From Clare Marcus:

Dear Wendy:

I feel we have been mentors to EACH OTHER!
We have had some great intellectual ( as well as personal) times together haven't we?

I had to chuckle at the piece about me bringing tea and "space cookies" (actually, my mother's secret recipe chocolate shortbread) on our field trips.

Especially, since on the spring (winter) solstice last weekend, I went on a trip to the beach with friends, and when it came time for our picnic they were astonished and more than a little amused when I produced a table cloth, cotton napkins, washable plates, cups, 2 thermoses of tea, watercress, tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, chocolate biscuits...and the other food contributor just pulled out 4 little sandwiches in baggies from her day pack.

Well, I mean to say ... What is a picnic without a tablecloth?
